Protecting the Heel and Achilles Tendon
Pain in the heel or the Achilles tendon is often caused by plantar fasciitis. This is caused by the plantar fascia – the tendons that run the length of the foot – becoming stiff. Often, this is because wearing shoes and walking on flat floors and pavements means that they don't get as much exercise as they did in the days of our “wild” ancestors.
When these tendons become too used to walking with arch-supporting shoes on perfectly smooth surfaces, they become vulnerable. If they do find themselves under pressure – for example when playing sport – they lack the required flexibility and are easily hurt or damaged. As they will essentially be too short, this can also place more strain on other tendons such as the Achilles tendon.
MEDICOVI insoles can prevent plantar fasciitis, and relieve the pain that the condition can cause. With each step, hydraulic pressure waves cause the foot to make a series of movements up and down. These movements exercise the plantar fascia, promoting flexibility and helping your feet to stay healthy.
